That's my color board. I've used photoshop to make color palette. The color palette comprises of all the possible colors in the painting and also I've used the similar colors to make my swatches that comes in the next phase!

One more color board.

Thats my material board..
It comprises of all the materials which ill be going to use in my swatches!

So this one's inspired by the costume of kathak dance basically the upper part known as angarkha. When the dancer takes a turn(chakkar) their costume follows the movement and flairs up giving a beautiful look!
Thats not my final swatch just some exploration of the costume with magazine cutouts!
Have you guys seen the side part of a tabla? it has strings attached to it. The design made out of it is a elongated diamond shape, well i changed it a bit and made a simple pattern out of it using matchsticks and tissue paper!

Heyy guys! Finally i'm back with the last phase of my project..

As i told you guys that the last part of the project would be interesting, well its time for me to tell you guys what it is!!

Have you guys heard of swatches? Im sure y'all must have but those who haven't, chill! its nothing big. Swatches are basically a small sample of fabric or any material which is used to show the look of a larger piece.

So, we were supposed to make swatches related to our concept and the essence which we took out of it. My concept was kathak and the essence i took out of it was "unity and togetherness". Please refer to my earlier blogs if you wanna know how i came up with that essence. :)

I'm kinda excited to share my work with you guys. Hope you like it!! :D

So this is my first swatch, my inspiration was tabla (the upper part of tabla). I used plastic wire to make it and some fancy glitter and paints to decorate the inner part!!

Have you guys seen a closeup of ghungroo??
IF NOT!
Have a look at my swatch on your left. The design is inspired by the shape of a ghungroo.

This one's my favourite.
IT ACTUALLY TOOK ME 3-4 hrs TO COMPLETE IT! The design is inspired by the essence and i've used different colored straws to make it.

Hi Guys!  Sorry for the delay in posting the new blog..I promise to make it upto you!:)

SO, HAVE YOU GUYS HEARD OF PHOTOSHOP??
I'm sure you all have if not then let me tell you that its  an extremely amazing software to edit photos and make beautiful collages and trust me its really not difficult, so if you guys have any upcoming project to do which includes editing USE PHOTOSHOP! take my word you guys will rock!
ANYHOWW coming back to my project.. Ive used a bit of my CAD skills to make some visual boards for my teachers and you ofcourse. ;)
This is my concept board..
So when i was doing my research and mind mapping, i gathered pictures from the internet and books which were related to my topic that is kathak. Well this is not the final board some changes are still needed in this which i will make very soon after consulting my teacher.

This is my inspiration board.
While doing my research i read about many things that were related to kathak. But apart from that i wanted to get into the history and details of the costumes that were worn in that period, instruments used and hand gestures, Hence i took inspiration from these things to make my board and more interesting things which you guys will eventually get to know!
This is my mood board..
Wait wait wait do you know whats a mood board? Okay if you dont lemme just brief you guys a bit. A mood board is something which gives you the feel and essence of the concept that you're working on. We put together images and words that best convey the essence of the concept.
My inspiration from the concept(kathak) was the design of the costume and instruments etc. Hence combining evertything i derived my mood board.

I was scribbling something i thought how about i share it with y'all. This will actually help you understand why i've used some of my pictures in the mood board.
 Please have a loook!!:)

Hi guys!

Im sure you all are gonna love this new post because ill be sharing with you the costumes, accessories , instruments and various hand mudras  of kathak.

Long angarakha's with chudidaar pyjama's and a long net dupatta was originally the dress of kathak.

The angarakha's have huge flairs in themwhile taking fast turns (chakkars) they look extremely beautiful.
Arm bands and bracelets are of gold or silver with colored stones. They add to the beauty of the dancers.

GHUNGROO HAS BEEN POTRAYED AS ORNAMENTS USED BY DANCERS.
THIS ORNAMENT GAINED THE REPUTATION OF ADORNING THE FEET OF A COURTESAN.

TABLA WAS OROGINALLY ASSOSCIATED WITH THE MUSIC ON WHICH COUTESANS PERFORMED
BY NOW YOU GUYS MUST HAVE REALISED HOW I LOVE TO EXPLORE OBJECTS. SO THIS IS ONE MORE PAGE FROM MY LOGBOOK WHICH I WOULD LOVE TO SHARE WITH YOU GUYS. I've explored the upper part of tabla to make a wallpaper sort of thing, later if i like i would love to convert it in 3d form and actually make it on my wall. This was just my thought if you guys have somthing in your mind feel freeee to share your thoughts with me. :)

BEAUTIFUL PHOTOGRAPHY!!

Hand gestures play a key role in Indian dance.. They are used to express the feelings, situation and scenario to the audience!!

Alot of golden and green caught my eye while making this design
Hence i took inspiration from it and made magazine cutouts to show my color pallete!

This was all in todays blog. Wait for my next blog to be published in which ive used my CAD skills to make some exciting boards for my upcoming project. STAY TUNED!

Kathak is as beautiful, as fascinating and
soulful as any other classical style,
and should be called the Cindrella of Indian dance.

    HISTORY OF KATHAK..

Sounds extremely boring? right? how about i brief you guys a little about my research on it. I'm sure y'all will love it.

KATHAK  a dance dorm of north india, derives its name from katha meaning (story).
In the ancient times story tellers recited the stories with an added eliment of abhinaya while reciting they danced too.

With mughal rules these performing bards were banned from performimg in temples and were made to serve in courts.

After the power of the mughal emperor  declined these performers were patronized by kings .
Thus with time kathak went on changing its form.

WELL I WOULD LOVE TO SHARE WITH YOU ALL MY RESEARCH :)

Inextricably tied to hindustani music. The dance form revolves around the radha and krishna theme. The dancer dances with 200 ghungroos and the musical instrument are tabla, sarangai. The dance form has gliding movements with no jerky or angular gestures.
Traditionally a solo dance!

KATHAK IS IDENTIFIED DUE TO ITS FAST TURNS AND INTRICATE FOOTWORK!!

So, this is the era which really provoked me to dig myself into more research about kathak.. Im sure you all must have seen umraao jaan and pakeezah, some very famous movies of their time. Ever wondered where the story of these famous movies have been picked from?
HAVE A LOOOOK!!

YES! so this was some basic information about where my project is heading too.
have a look at my next blog where i tell you about the costumes and accesories of this period.
